  4. early part of the century, was thought to be a sure 
  5. way of getting rid of cities, by taking us back to 
  6. the country. Watching the figure  of the car, they 
  7. saw the immediate possibility of simply ransporting 
  8. city dwellers back into the country where they 
  9. came from. An early phase about the motorcar 
  10. was: ‚ÄúLet‚Äôs take a spin in the country.‚Äù It never 
  11. occurred to them that this figure  of the car might 
  12. generate a huge ground  of new services far bigger 
  13. that the figure ever was thought to be. In other 
  14. words, the car created a totally new environment
